Why do we need Guardians ad Litem?
Often, when court cases arise involving children, it’s not unusual for adults to speak so loudly that a child’s vulnerable voice gets lost in the process. The job of a Guardian ad Litem is to be the strong, independent voice a child needs. They are only to serve the child. A Guardian ad Litem ensures the child’s individual needs and best interests are taken into consideration and given value throughout the entire process.
Why we need your help
Guardians ad Litem are only part of the assistance these children so often need. While the Guardians themselves are there for these children as court appointed advocates, they have no access to financial or support resources for these children who need so much. Usually these same children have financial requirements which are not able to be met through other local services. Through various grants, fundraisers and donations from caring individuals and organizations, GALABC has provided clothing, toys, school supplies, tutoring, camp stays, beds, swim lessons, and many other resources to meet these children’s needs and help them live a more normal life.
