1821 ReStore Shopper Program
The Guardian ad Litem Association of Buncombe County (GALABC) has begun a collaboration with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity’s Meadow Road ReStore, and Two Men and A Truck to support youth in DHHS’ Foster Care 18 to 21 Program.
The program offers young adults’ opportunities to transition to independence with child welfare agency supervision. When a participant establishes a household and needs furnishings and delivery assistance, an 1821 ReStore Shopper voucher is created by DHHS for one time use at the Meadow Road ReStore. It is estimated that 12 to 15 young adults will be helped annually as they work to establish independence and a permanent home.
The GALABC is very grateful to our partners and encourages people to donate to the ReStore when possible and support Two Men and a Truck when local or long-distance moving services are needed.
Thank you to our newest community partner, Zoe Dental! Your support makes a huge difference in the lives of the children we serve. Also, Dr. Perry Stamatiades was recently recognized by the Asheville Chamber of Commerce as a Small Business Leader of the Year for creating a business that delivers high quality dental care while creating an environment and culture that positively impacts his patients, employees and the community.
